The Gulf Stream gives Norway a unique advantage in the hunt for the northern lights. While other Arctic destinations offer biting cold, you can experience the aurora borealis with us in comfortable surroundings – even in the middle of winter. This makes it easier to stand outside, enjoy the moment, and capture the photos you’ve been dreaming of.

Valhall Experience has extensive experience in northern lights tourism and knows where the lights dance best. We pick you up at your hotel in Harstad and drive you to carefully selected mountaintops, free from light pollution. When conditions are right, these locations are simply magical.

Wait for the lights in authentic Sami tradition

Some evenings require patience. That’s when we offer the option to wait in a traditional Sami lavvo with a crackling fire. Here you sit warm and comfortable while waiting for the sky to awaken. We serve coffee, tea, and light refreshments. There’s something truly special about experiencing the stillness of Arctic nature from inside a lavvo – and then suddenly seeing the northern lights blaze across the tent canvas.

Thermal suits are provided on all tours, so you stay warm regardless of the weather.

The northern lights choose when to dance. For the ultimate experience, we recommend at least two nights in Harstad – this increases your chances of seeing what you came for.
